CAREER PATH
Clare graduated from London University in 1997 and was called to the Bar in 1998. She returned to university for 1 year to study for a masters degree at the LSE before embarking on her 12 month pupillage with chambers.
She joined the Chambers of Roger Ellis QC, now Julian Baughan QC at 13 KBW as a tenant in October 2000.

Employment ~ Clare has a broad employment practice ranging from providing representation at employment tribunal hearings to county court trials concerning breach of the contract of employment. Her clients are predominantly employers and she has appeared in cases of alleged unfair dismissal and sex / race discrimination for amongst others, HM Customs & Excise, McDonalds, Wincanton Logistics, Virgin and a number of local authorities and NHS Trusts.
Her most recent cases have involved issues such as an alleged “date rape” of a claimant by her fellow employee, non-payment of commission payments in alleged breach of contract and the application of the Tribunal rules concerning the time limits for commencing applications.
Clare has also been involved in providing representation at internal disciplinary hearings. This has included a university disciplinary hearing, ACCA and a session convened by the London Ambulance Service to consider an incident of fighting amongst crew members.
Personal Injury ~ Advocacy and advisory work in most aspects of personal injury litigation. Clare is regularly instructed in claims on behalf of both claimants and defendants arising from breach of statutory duty, employer’s liability, occupier’s liability and road traffic accidents. Recent cases have included acting for a driver who sustained personal injuries after colliding with a school boy who had exited his school through a gate with a faulty lock and a school boy who sustained injuries in a gym class because of his teacher’s alleged failure to supervise.
Inquests / General Common Law ~ Extensive experience of attending inquests both for the bereaved family and for potential defendants in future civil actions. Clients have included hire car companies, car manufacturers and hauliers.
Clare continues to be instructed in contractual disputes, particularly those involving trades people and under the Sale of Goods legislation. She has extensive experience of all aspects of road traffic accident litigation, including representing the Police and Ambulance Services.
