RANGE OF EXPERIENCE

Lucy has a wide ranging commercial and common law practice, with particular expertise in the following areas:

  • Commercial disputes. In addition to her own workload, Lucy has experience assisting on large IT and construction cases.  
  • Insolvency and Debt Recovery. Including winding up, bankruptcy, charging orders and third party debt orders. 
  • Property, with an emphasis on landlord and tenant law.   
  • Personal Injury and Credit Hire.  Her practice includes employers', highway and occupiers' liability. Lucy also appears at Inquests. She has a particular interest in HGV/Bus cases.

Lucy drafts pleadings and advices in a wide variety of matters, and prides herself on her pragmatic approach. She appears on the small, fast and multi-tracks in a range of interlocutory and final hearings. She is also happy to undertake ADR such as mediation.

Lucy is on the Treasury Solicitor’s Baby Barrister Panel, advising the government on all aspects of fast and multi-track litigation against the Prisons and Courts Services. Accordingly, she has experience in areas such as false imprisonment, malicious prosecution and civil assault.

Lucy spent six months as a Judicial Assistant to Lord Justice Mummery. Her work ranged across the whole of civil law, and has given her particular insight into how to tailor her advocacy to any judge. She also spent time at the Bank of England assisting the Financial Markets Law Committee.

CAREER PATH

Lucy was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in July 2009. She spent a year working as a Judicial Assistant at the Court of Appeal and assisting the Financial Markets Law Committee at the Bank of England. From October 2010, she undertook commercial pupillage at 4 Pump Court, specialising in Shipping, Construction and Professional Negligence. Lucy moved to 13KBW in October 2010, becoming a tenant in April 2011.
