CAREER PATH
He joined the chambers of Julian Baughan QC, at 13 King’s Bench Walk in 1985.
He graduated from the University of London in 1977 and was called to the Bar in 1979, undertaking his pupillage with James Hunt QC and Margaret Puxon QC.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE
His professional practice at the Bar has covered experience of all aspects of serious criminal work, including murders, other homicides, death by dangerous driving, corporate manslaughter, drug cases, fraud including mortgage fraud, conspiracies and serious sexual offences. He both prosecutes and defends in all Courts. [Class 4 Prosecutor]. He has lectured in corporate manslaughter.
Recent important cases include:
- Leading counsel in Drug Conspiracies such as Operation Hepatic, Operation Jeopardy and Operation Velcro;
- Charity Frauds such as R v Doriss and Mann (defence counsel on a 3 ½ month charity VAT and Income Tax fraud);
- R v Dyke and Munroe (prosecuting counsel in a Charity fraud involving 115 witnesses);
- R v Tobolagba (prosecuting counsel in drugs and conflict diamonds case involving foreign diplomat);
- R v Sanjurjo (leading defence counsel in murder trial involving fitness to plead):
- R v Faruq & others (leading defence counsel in multi-handed conspiracy involving illegal immigrants).
- R v Ingoldsby and Diggens (junior prosecuting counsel – Henley Murder).
