RANGE OF EXPERIENCE
Paul was admitted as a solicitor in 1980 and called to the bar in 2006. He has a wealth of experience in criminal practice and has prosecuted many high profile cases in the Thames.
In the 1990’s he was the head of the War Crimes Unit. He was a visiting expert to the Council of Europe where he took part in the scheme to modernise criminal law and practice in the emerging democracies of Eastern Europe.
He is experienced in police professional standards enquiries, mutual legal assistance, and extradition.
Paul is an experienced advocate in both Magistrates and Crown Court.

CAREER PATH
Paul was an articled clerk in Norfolk, moving to London on qualification in 1980.
In 1982 Paul joined the Prosecuting Solicitors Department of Thames Valley Police, based in Reading and later at police Headquarters in Kidlington.
He joined the CPS on it’s creation in 1986 and in 1991 became the Head of the War Crimes Unit based in London where he took part in the first (and last) enquiry in crimes committed by UK residents in World War 2.
Paul served as a visiting expert to the Council of Europe on their programme to modernise their criminal law and practice advising on legislation in Georgia, Czech Republic, Belarus and Ukraine.
Paul returned to the Thames Valley Area where he headed the Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire CPS offices.
Since 1999 he has worked in the CPS Complex Casework Unit, dealing with many murders, large scale frauds and drug conspiracies. He developed a specialism in serious road traffic cases dealing with many cases of causing death by dangerous driving. He also has extensive experience in dealing with criminal allegations against police officers and has worked closely with the Professional Standards Departments of both Wiltshire and Thames Valley.
He is an acknowledged expert in mutual legal assistance, extradition and European Arrest Warrants.
Paul is an experienced Crown Court advocate with a good record of success.
Paul joined 13 KBW as part of their criminal team in 2010.
