CAREER PATH
She joined the chambers of Roger Ellis QC at 13 King’s Bench Walk as a member of the Criminal Team in March 2000.
She moved to the Wessex Chambers in Reading as a tenant in June 1997, gradually developing a local practice in this expanding provincial set, covering family and personal injury matters, but with an emphasis on criminal work.
She graduated from Brunel University in 1994 and was called to the Bar in 1995. She was in pupillage at the Chambers of Desmond de Silva QC at 2 Paper Buildings from September 1995 – June 1997.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE EXPERIENCE
Her professional practice has covered:
- Extensive Criminal experience, both prosecution and defence, in a variety of criminal cases, including contested serious violence, Class A drug offences, fraud, rape, violence and public order. She has been led on several occasions including fraud, rape and murder. She has defended in all courts and prosecuted for the CPS, Local Authorities and the Probation service. Her practice has developed an emphasis on sexual offences particularly those involving children.
- R v Oliver, Hartrey & Baldwin The Times 6th December 2002 – sentencing in an indecent photograph case
- R v Whitfield The Independent 21st January 2001 – sentence death by dangerous driving
