Deirdre Goodwin

Deirdre has more than 30 years' experience. In her early years she had a general common law practice that included serious crime, commercial litigation and aviation insurance. She later specialized in clinical negligence and personal injury and has been involved in important developments in clinical negligence and personal injury including the first personal injury award to exceed £1 million and the House of Lords definitive ruling on causation in Bolitho. Her particular areas of expertise are obstetric and catastrophic injury claims arising from traumatic or acquired brain damage. She is the Head of the Personal Injury and Medical Law Teams in Chambers and writes the monthly Case and Practice Update sent out jointly by these Teams

Her pupillage was with Michel Kallipetis, 2 Crown Office Row. She then joined common law chambers at 11 King’s Bench Walk. In 1984 she decided to concentrate exclusively on civil litigation and moved to 13 King’s Bench Walk
