Matthew Corrie

Matthew has a common law practice encompassing criminal, personal injury and employment law.

His criminal practice involves prosecuting and defending primarily in the Crown Court but also in the Magistrates' Court.  He is experienced in dealing with a wide range of criminal matters including drugs, violence, fraud and sexual offences.  Matthew also has expertise in road traffic and licensing matters.

Recent instructions include:

  • Defending an importation of over 2kg of cocaine;
  • Defending a three handed affray;
  • Defending a four handed s. 47;
  • Defending a two handed s. 18;
  • Prosecuting a s. 18;
  • Prosecuting a false imprisonment;
  • Prosecuting an indecent exposure;
  • Prosecuting an indecent images.

Matthew advises and appears in personal injury and credit hire claims for both claimant and respondents. His personal injury practice includes employers', highway and occupiers' liability. He accepts work under conditional fee agreements.

In his employment practice Matthew advises and appears for both claimants and respondents.  Recent instructions have included claims for unlawful deduction of wages and unfair dismissal. He is also member of the Free Representation Unit.  

Matthew is qualified under the Bar’s Direct Public Access Scheme.
