R v Avery and Others. Trevor Holmes Acquitted.

At Winchester Crown Court on 23 December 2008 Trevor Holmes, represented by Nigel Daly and Jane Brady in chambers, was acquitted of conspiracy to blackmail companies supplying Huntingdon Life Sciences.  The other 4 defendants in the trial were convicted by the jury.  The case centred upon the animal rights organisation SHAC and Mr Holmes' alleged involvement in the illegal and ALF activities that were linked to the organisation.  After 50,000 pages of evidence, including evidence coming from 6 European jurisdictions and the USA, and a trial lasting 3 months Mr Holmes was found not guilty by the jury.
